June 1, 2017 marked the 50th anniversary of the Beatles' seminal Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, as well as the day it was unveiled in Dolby Atmos at live listening events throughout the U.S. and Canada. The legendary sonic tapestry of the record was expanded with sound that seemed to flow from every direction, even above and behind listeners.

"This album was the baseline for everything that came afterward in our lives," says Chris Jenkins, three-time Academy Award® winner and Sgt. Pepper's Dolby Atmos mix supervisor. "There's no better example of something to do and do it well than to take Sgt. Pepper's on its 50th anniversary and create something new out of it."

What we're trying to do is take what the Beatles did in that mono mix but turn it into a much more immersive listen.
