Universal HDR Playback

Dolby Vision enabled TVs play both Dolby Vision and generic HDR content. As artists increasingly choose the flexibility and precision of Dolby Vision, you'll be able to watch newer Hollywood blockbusters and streaming TV series, as well as older content. Owners of TVs with generic HDR won't be able to get the benefit of content mastered in Dolby Vision.

Dolby Vision leverages HDR technology that comes from the world's most advanced cinemas. Our engineers helped create the SMPTE ST 2084 standard that defines HDR for cinema, and we work with trusted partners to bring that immersive cinematic experience to the home.

 

Scene Optimization

Dolby Vision adjusts brightness, color, and contrast automatically for each scene. Dynamic metadata carries information that maps every image to your TV display's capabilities, so you see more of what the content creator intended. Static metadata in generic HDR is set once for the entire piece of the content and can't adjust the picture for your display.
